Catchment
I am an Artist who is deeply affected by environment and who has represented this deep connection through my research in painting. I have also always considered myself to be a visionary horticulturist by practice. Digging up the lawn to grow vegetables and herbs for cooking is my annual tradition. I also tend various perennial gardens and cultivated fruit trees, a trait I inherently carry to everyplace I have moved. Prying up sod, experimenting with new climate zones, various soils, and growing methods denoted certain failure, but never without passion and a bit of obsession. For me there is an additional concerted effort in aesthetics. Color, texture, movement, space, time, and scent; to me the elements of the natural world mirrored my artistic practice as a painter. My entire career as a visual artist has been a meditation on connecting the two.
